February 2023: Appointed Medical Director of a PCU unit in the hospital

  • Rounding weekly on this same unit and working closely with unit nursing director, case worker, and social worker to improve patient satisfaction and discharge parameters such as discharge before 12pm to improve ER hold throughput
  • Lobbied to change hospital’s Discharge to Lounge Criteria to remove non-English speaking patients waiting on prescription medications from the hospital retail pharmacy before discharge. This was done in order to eliminate chances of a language barrier contributing to patients leaving the hospital without their discharge medications.

March 2022: Volunteered to be daily supervisor of rounding Hospitalist team

  • Responsible for completing death certificates and addressing prescription needs or pending results for off-week providers, dividing overnight admissions waiting in ED to rounding Hospitalists, and responding to hospital wide Rapids and Codes

August 2021: Received appointment of Assistant Professor at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (non-tenure track)

  • Teaching medical school students in a group setting on how to take patient history, develop an assessment/plan, and verbally present the case
  • Mentoring medical students and residents in the hospital setting while actively caring for patients together

November 2023: Focus Group for PerfectServe (healthcare based paging and communication platform) 

  • Working closely with a group of other physicians, hospital leadership, and IT specialists to identify ongoing issues with this communication interface and how to make it work better for each medical specialty


November 2021: Sepsis committee 

  • Helped develop an alert system for nurses and physicians to promptly identify patients developing signs of sepsis
  • Helped create Sepsis orderset in Epic
  • Reviewed mortality cases providing feedback to providers and identifying areas of system failures


September 2020: Patient-Family-Provider Communication Council

  • This council was formed after recognizing a need to better facilitate communication with family for admitted patients during the COVID pandemic when hospital visitation was not allowed.
  • Served as a liaison for the Hospitalist department helping to illustrate our specific needs within this communication cascade among family and patients.
  • Team developed an Epic interface where nurses and physicians could more efficiently keep track of and document communication with family of admitted patients.
