24 year-old girl, currently enrolled in medical school in India. Coming from Sikh community, I have always found solace in service. This was one of the motivations getting into medicine, evident by involvement in volunteer work.
In 2023, my father had NSTEMI. With my brother abroad, I took charge and arranged his treatment. My involvement in medicine, made the process smooth. It was then when I developed interest in internal medicine and decided to pursue it further.
Finally, I worked with US based residents to write cases up and make posters after which I decided to take my journey to the US to explore research opportunities, evidence-based medicine as I take my training further.
Involved in writing introduction and discussion for case reports and conference abstracts within HIPAA limits. I further made posters which were presented at ACG, SGIM and DDW.
Administered vaccination at local rabies clinic after I myself suffered an animal bite
After monsoon floods in Amritsar my medical school held flood relief camp for the affected and I was one of the student volunteers. Our roles included providing first aid, treatment of waterborne disease.
In this event, I was involved in making schedules, organizing individual events, inviting judges and arranging prizes while supervising my team for the event.

Wrote e-mails, promoted events via social media and drafted phone scripts to recruit volunteers. Coordinated schedules and timelines for events. Developed post-event reports to determine effectiveness of each event.
