I am currently serving in the position as a Fire Operational Battalion Chief. My career with the Irving Fire Department began in 1999 when I was hired as a Fire Prevention Specialist. A year later I was able to test and make the transition to the Fire Suppression Division at the rank of Firefighter. I became a Licensed Paramedic in 2003. I served with the Irving Police Department for eight years as a Tactical Paramedic assigned to IPD's Special Operations Division. I have extensive training in both Technical Rescue and Urban Search and Rescue specialties. I currently hold Master certifications from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection in both Structural Firefighting and Fire Inspection. I have also successfully completed NIMS 300,400 as well as achieved the Fire Officer IV level.

I enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1987. I was trained as a Cardiopulmonary Technician (4H071T). I was able to achieve the rank of E-5 Staff Sergeant before separation from active duty in December 1997. I specialized in adult, pediatric, and neonatal critical care.


I forward deployed as crew member of a specialized aeromedical critical care team to multiple locations supporting both military combat operations and non-combat humanitarian operations.


In 1995 I became a Military Technical Training Instructor. My remaining time on active duty was spent teaching the didactic portion of the Cardiopulmonary Specialist Technician program at Sheppard AFB, TX.
