Throughout the time at the GT County Jail the main components of the job include, the safety of the inmates and the facility by doing hourly rounds within assigned sections, thorough pat downs and housing reassignments, and responding quickly to emergencies within the facility. Along with those important tasks others may include but not exclude, medication and food tray pass, and monitoring all inmate movements/ activities. Being able to adapt to high stress situations such as, heavy court days, altercations (verbal and physical) and preventing self harm from inmates. Taking instruction and or constructive criticism from supervisors while also being able to instruct inmates.
The duties preformed were, keeping the grounds clean, making sure all equipment was in good working conditions, up keeping the appearance inside, such as vacuuming, painting, window washing, and other general cleaning tasks.
My work station had to be organized, stocked, and equipped with proper sanitization habits. During this time efficiency was needed along with punctuality.
