I am applying for the summer externship position at Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters. My goal for this job is to improve upon the skills I have learned at James Madison University and learn new skills you can only get through hands-on experience. I want to be able to help my patients, nurses, and techs in any way I possibly can.
In this position, I continued to build on the beginning skills I acquired at Sunnyside Retirement community. Some of those skills include providing baths, providing oral care, checking environmental safety, transferring clients, communicating health care finding with the staff involved etc.
In this position, I am learning how to use my fundamental nursing skills again, but this time on patients. I will have completed my first year of nursing school at James Madison University. am learning how to adequately address patients, identify them, assess them, and use the skills I learned to help improve their hospital stay.

Provided first aid when needed in accordance with established procedures.
Educated children about nature conservation and how to compassionately take care of animals.
In this position, I started my learning as a nursing student. Unfortunately due to COVID-19, I was unable to complete any in-hospital care. I spent that school year learning fundamentals of nursing, pharmacology, medication administration, and different body processes and how they work.
Over the past year, I have completed over 80 hours of community service within the Rockingham County community. I have done a wide variety of services. Those services include dog walking at the SPCA, picking up trash along the highway, helping with activities within Special Olympics, setting up a museum for kids to enjoy, sitting with the residents at Pleasant View, and many more.
