Education and Teacher Preparation

Teacher Preparation Program: I have been prepared to teach science by the UTeach Tyler STEM Teacher Preparation Program. UTeach is unique in its approach and was initiated at UT Austin. The program prepares teachers specifically to teach mathematics and/or science. As part of the program, I have been trained in multiple teaching strategies including the 5E Inquiry model promoted by the Texas Education Agency, Project- and Problem-based Learning, and Direct Instruction. I have also completed over 650 hours of clinical observations and teaching. Research shows that students of UTeach graduates learn more than students taught by non-UTeach graduates, up to 9 months additional learning in math and 5 months in science.
