• ED Observation/ Clinical Decision Unit
• Work independently to provide high quality patient care for patients in 23hrs observation.
• Perform admission, patient history, physical examinations, and diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic health problems on initial day of admission.
• Discharged and performed discharge summaries or transfer patient inpatient.
• Assisted in training of Nurse Practitioner students in association with University of Illinois at Chicago College of Nursing.

Sickle Cell Acute Care Center - Float Pool - May 2018- Current

• Seeing Sickle Cell patients with an average of 4-6 patients.
• Area serves as an ED-type unit - pts are escorted to this unit from the ED.
• Perform History and physical exam, write-up, set up treatment plan to include pain control with narcotics
• Finish full treatment for about 4 hrs then released but occasionally admit to hematology service.

• Work independently to provide high quality patient care in performing medical screening on refugees from different countries including but not limited to Iraq, Congo, Nepal, Burma, Ethiopia, Somalia etc.
• Performed physical exam for legal purposes for green cards, people with asylum status, school/ sport physical, occupational health exams, and general wellness exams for males, females, geriatric patients, and children 2 weeks and up.
• Performed acute minor care and physical examination, including pap smears, bimanual exam, digital rectal exams, incised and drained simple abscess with cellulitis, removed sutures and staples.
• Clinical preceptor for Nurse Practitioner students from University of Illinois at Chicago College of Nursing and Resurrection University.
• Bariatric Clinic temporary coverage for 8 months to provide high quality patient care for medical clearance for Bariatric surgeries including (Gastric Sleeve, Gastric Band, and Bypass).
• Assisted in transition from paper documentation to NEXTGEN EMR system.

Pre-operative Services Hospitalist

• Collaborate with surgeons for history and physical of pre-operative clearance.
• Perform patient history and physical examinations, and communicated findings to surgeons and anesthesia team & updates to history and physicals done by patient's PCP within 30 days of the scheduled procedure.
• Perform procedures including staples removal, sutures removal, central, intra-osseous, and arterial line removal, and JP drain removal.

Inpatient Hospitalist.

• Collaborated with in house hospitalists in taking care of all the non-insured 'self-Pay' admissions and worked independently to provide high quality patient care in this newly created role.
• Perform admission, patient history, physical examinations, and diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic health problems on initial day of admission and for their fellow up inpatient care.
• Attended meetings three times a week with the inpatient physicians advisor and collaborative team of socials workers, case managements, and physical therapist to improve quality of care and shorten length of stay.

• Collaborated with on-call physicians to perform admission, patient history & physical examinations, and diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic health problems for all patients on the on-call list 6-20 patients a day.

• Telemetry Step down/ Cross trained in ED.
• Assigned to provide patient care for 6-7 patients.
• Assisted with the admittance and discharge of patients.
• Performed clinical tasks according to hospital policies.
• Provided acute & close monitoring of adults acute & chronic disease for arrhythmia, MI screening, anticoagulation therapy, cardiac & peripheral diagnostic procedures.
• Prepared patients for TEE, Thoracentesis, cardiac catheterization, pacemaker implantation, Bronchoscopy, IVC filter, and stress testing and performed peritoneal dialysis, Continuous Bladder irrigation, prepare patient for hemo-dialysis.
• Monitored chest tubes & various drainage devices.
• Closely monitors effectiveness of IV drip cardiac medications & insulin drip with every 2-hour blood glucose monitoring.
• Assisted in the orientation of new staff members.

• Monitor patients during exercise, adenosine, or nuclear stress tests and analyze/ interpret ECG and vital signs throughout period of testing; Administer medications and treatments for any reactions.
• Interpret Holter/ event monitors under supervision of Cardiologist Dr. Ashraf Abourahma.
• Manage and organized Pacemaker/ ICD clinic.
