  • DoseEdge Pharmacy Workflow Manager
  • Cerner
  • USP 795
  • USP 797

PROJECTS

  • Epic Service Line Expert: During the transition to Epic EHR, completed additional training to become an Epic educator for the pharmacy operations department. In collaboration with other service line experts, created training exercises and modules for small group sessions, and provided one on one assistance during go-live. Assessed order sets and data transferred from Cerner, alerted informatics and Willow team of discrepancies to resolve issues.

  • IV Room Waste Reduction: Barriers that occurred during the implementation of DoseEdge and Epic resulted in an increase in IV room production waste. A key problem identified was a gap in understanding the communication between Epic and DoseEdge upon dispensing. Team was formed and created education to bridge this gap and provide additional resources. Small group sessions were intended for better engagement and ensure understanding. Monthly average redispenses reduced by 25% within the first month of education, and over 40% reduction by the end of the year.

  • Shared Governance Council Chair: Manage quality improvement and standardization projects submitted by frontline team members, attend leadership meetings to present and discuss current projects, lead monthly member meetings. Most recent successfully completed projects include:
  • Recommendations for standardization of storage of neuromuscular blockers in accordance with ISMP best practice.
  • Creation of assessments and performance evaluations to ensure competency of USP 795 non-sterile compounding requirements

  • Ground Floor Operations Improvement: A survey on groundfloor workflow identified barriers with redispenses, cartfill process, and pyxis optimization. A report on redispenses was provided and analysis is being done to identify causes of these workflow barriers. Preliminary assessments identified challenges in order verification, dispensing and medication delivery. This is an ongoing project with a goal of waste reduction, cost saving, and prevention of team member burn out.
