Support GIS operations for Qatar national utility infrastructure (electricity and water distribution networks), focusing on data integrity, migration, and network updates.

Key responsibilities:

  • Electric and water utility database updating and management according to kahramaa standards and migration of contractor data (GDB/DWG) into ArcFM using survey book references.
  • QA/QC of As-Builts (laying and jointing cables, maintenance, new connection, consumer service upgrade, etc.) in GIS.
  • 11Kv Single Line Diagram verification of As-Built commissioned in tracing of Primary Substation and Substations.
  • Performing load mismatch tracing of fuse load and transformers with the aid of ArcFM Locator, Facility IDs, Utility Network Analyst tool to locate; Connectivity of Network path in electricity distribution either in Low Voltage feeders or Medium Voltage circuits and Service Points.
  • Performing meter verification and meter fixing on the proposed service points and tracing of duplicated consumer numbers.
  • Data migration of contractor's As-Builts to GIS Kahramaa acquiescent format (CAD Data To ArcFM to PGDB Schema to ArcFM New Schema).

January 2016 – December 2019: GIS Specialist at the District of Agricultural Studies and Statistics

  • Create maps and graphs, using geographic information systems software.
  • Collect, analyze and integrate spatial data.
  • Compile geographic data from a variety of sources including censuses, field observation, satellite images, aerial photos, and maps.
  • Updating the shape files, entering new cartographic data.
  • Operation and maintenance of GIS hardware and software.
  • Providing GIS technical support, data extraction, and mapping assistance to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assisted IT operations team with technical tasks and system management.

  • Consistently updated Agricultural Map to reflect current agricultural data and changes.
  • Inventory of water points in the Departments of Nadhour and Saouaf: producing a map showing the geographical distribution of these water points based on data obtained from the Water Resources Department.
  • Inventory of palm trees in Zaghouan State: Within the framework of the National Program for the Control of the Red Palm Weevil, I created a map showing the geographical distribution of palm trees throughout the state, based on information obtained from the Department of Plant Production.
  • Updated olive maps for Zaghouan state using 2015 satellite imagery and conducted field verification to ensure accuracy.
  • Updating the map of the deep groundwater table in the state of Zaghouan: This project was implemented by relying on the topographic maps and data obtained from the Water Resources Department.
  • Updating the map of cereals in the state of Zaghouan: Part of this work was carried out in partnership with a student within the framework of a project to conclude lessons carried out within the Department of Agricultural Studies and Statistics. The aim of the project is to "study the strategies of farmers who aim to expand olive plantations at the expense of the cereals in the state of Zaghouan, especially in the delegations that are characterized by their vast plains (Zaghouan, Zriba, Fahs and BirMchergua). In addition to the activities that I mentioned previously, I have carried out other activities on the agricultural map:
  • Assessed the area needed for maintaining the water table in Nadhour and Saouaf.
  • Defining protection zones for the water table of Zaghouan Mountain.
  • Updating the map of water points for the water table of Mount Zaghouan.
  • Updating the map of the precipitation stations in Zaghouan.
  • Provided technical data, including digital and paper maps, to departments of regional commission for agricultural development, public administrations, researchers, and students to support educational studies.
  • Completion of the infrastructure map for the state of Zaghouan for the benefit of the Regional Civil Protection Administration of Zaghouan.
  • Producing a map of integrated development projects in Zaghouan for the benefit of the Regional Development Administration in Zaghouan.
  • Participation in the preparation of the general census of agriculture, which includes the following stages:
  • Community survey: It is the first phase of the census that includes all the deanships in each state and aims to define the characteristics of the deanship in terms of many aspects, especially the agricultural ones, and to address in a second phase the problems of the region and the projects expected to be promoted.
  • The second stage is the pre-enumeration stage, which is the stage of which the aim is to prepare a nominal list of exploiters for each state, with the location of the exploited ones belonging to it, in preparation for the next stage.
  • The third stage is the basic stage of the general census of agriculture, where a comprehensive survey of agricultural properties takes place in all the states of the Republic, and through it we obtain verified information about land use, herd census, agricultural labor and other data.
  • The fourth phase is a supplementary phase that concerns some strategic sectors, especially the cereals, olives and livestock sectors. Within the framework of this technical files:
  • I monitored the work of the studies office in charge of preparing the digital maps that will be approved for the completion of this project (at the level of Zaghouan state).
  • Created detailed navigation maps and coordinates to facilitate field team site visits.
  • Installing the AgriCollect software on the digital boards and training my colleagues from the Department of Agricultural Studies and Statistics on how to use it.

• January 2020– December 2024: GIS Specialist at the Soil Resources District

Member of the soil physiochemical properties mapping project with remote sensing technology: This project falls within the framework of the partnership between the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources and the National Center for Mapping and Remote Sensing. The “Smenja Plain”, located in the delegation of BirMchergua, State of Zaghouan, was chosen as a model area for the completion of the project in it and then circulated to other areas in the future. The project aims to produce a database and a digital map that illustrates the physiochemical properties of the soil based on multi-spectral satellite images, which will contribute to drawing up agricultural development policies and directing farmers to the most effective agricultural patterns according to the characteristics of their lands.

  • Studying of applications for permits to open and operate quarries (Study of the technical file then field work and environmental and impact study mainly with regard to the agricultural sector.
  • Attending meetings of the regional quarries commission.
  • Participating in field missions of the quarries monitoring and control commission.
  • Conducting fieldwork, including data collection and coordinates verification.
