Hospital Volunteer

Kelly Woiteal
Coon Rapids, Minnesota
10.2022 - Current

I volunteer at Mercy Hospital every Monday and Wednesday. While volunteering there, I would help at the guest service center by showing guests to specific places they are looking for. If someone would come in and they don't know what floor or where to go to find a patient, I would assist them in finding that patient by taking them to the place, so that they wouldn't have to go around the whole hospital looking for that person. I would also help with wheelchair cleaning and wheeling people down from their room to their cars. I supported hospital staff in daily tasks, resulting in improved efficiency and patient satisfaction. Restocked medical supplies and consumables to prepare procedure rooms. Reported patient requests, concerns, and other observations to staff. Transported patients and helped with discharge procedures. Provided emotional support to patients and families during difficult medical situations, fostering a sense of comfort and understanding. Enhanced patient experience by providing compassionate care and assistance during hospital visits. Complied with HIPAA standards to confidentially maintain patient medical information. Participated in training sessions to enhance skills, remaining knowledgeable about best practices for patient care. Provided support and companionship to patients in need of assistance. Supported hospital staff by changing bedding and assisting with meals. Maintained clean and safe environments for patients, families, and staff by adhering to infection control protocols. Facilitated smooth communication between patients, families, and healthcare providers through accurate message relay and translation services when needed.

  • Assisted nurses with non-medical tasks, such as delivering meals and running errands.
  • Provided emotional support and comfort to patients and families.
  • Greeted visitors in a friendly manner, offering directions or other assistance as needed.
