11-Acre Brownfield Investigation, Dover, Delaware, 2019
Assisted with the subsurface investigation activities at an 11-acre undeveloped property located in Dover, Delaware. Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs) identified in Ten Bear Environmental's July 2018 Phase I Environmental Site Assessment included possible onsite disposal of solid waste debris and other historical fill materials within a former borrow pit at the Property. Hanna assisted in the collection of eighteen (18) surface soil samples and eighteen (18) subsurface soil samples from eight (8) test trenches and 10 Geoprobe® soil boring. Five (5) shallow groundwater samples, eight (8) wetland surface soil samples and five (5) surface water and sediment sample pairs were collected.
3 Jackson Avenue Brownfield Investigation, New Castle, Delaware, 2020
Project Manager of a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment and the subsequent Limited Subsurface Evaluation of an approximately 1.38-acre land parcel in New Castle, Delaware. The findings of the June 2019 Phase I Environmental Site Assessment included a recognized environmental condition (REC) associated with an apparent groundwater contaminant plume originating at an adjoining property which extended onto the subject property. Ms. Baffone assisted in limited subsurface evaluation activities which included 14 Geoprobe® soil borings, 14 surface soil samples, and 49 subsurface soil samples were collected. Five hollow stem auger monitoring wells were completed for evaluation of shallow groundwater. Through further investigation, Hanna assisted in both indoor and outdoor air testing to evaluate a potential human health risk associated with the migration of vapors into the building from the site soils. The evaluation was performed using the EPA approved SUMMA NiCrOx Coated Canisters to collect air samples to measure levels of 40 solvents and aromatics.
Environmental Scientist/ Field Technician – Hydrogeologic Investigations, 2020-2021
Hanna has completed hydrogeologic investigations at various properties throughout the State of Delaware, residential-use properties, automobile filling stations, or other commercial-use sites, to evaluate the nature and extent of subsurface petroleum conditions. Generally, such investigations have included: soil borings completed using hand-auger; soil and groundwater sampling and laboratory analysis; and the construction of ground water monitoring wells.
Due Diligence Project Manager – Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, 2021-2023
Hanna has completed Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Database Reviews, Records Search with Risk Assessments, and Environmental Transaction Screens at residential, commercial, agricultural, and industrial properties. The previous environmental assessments mention require a high level of historical research, in person site inspections, and local agency file reviews to determine the presence of Recognized Environmental Conditions that may warrant further investigation. Hanna has worked with various clients including private businesses, real estate investors, corporations, lending institutions, attorneys, developers, and other private and public entities.
