Completed one semester of research under Dr. Melissa Fly learning basic laboratory techniques, along with sterile technique and the best way to maximize laboratory time. Completed over 3000 hours working under Dr. Wu at the Medical University of South Carolina analyzing rat cervical disks to evaluate the amount of damage by inhaling cigarette smoke to the spinal column. This research included using machinery to analyze the osmolality inside the cervical disks, working with bioengineering machinery, and surgically removing the disks from the animals.
