Volunteer
I have been a volunteer numerous times in my life.
I helped my local American Legion set up and take down flags at the cemetery for Memorial Day.
For Veterans day, I always read a piece at my school as well as sing in the choir and play in the band.
In FCCCLA, I do various activities with the elementary students. For example, I have helped teach students about motor skills using activities such as a ring toss. I also help make and deliver locker decorations as a part of student council and FCCLA.
I volunteer frequently as a 4-Her. For example, since I show livestock, I have gotten the opportunity to help teach young 4-Hers how to show their own animals. I also help clean up the fairgrounds and set up activities, such as the Ag Olympics and Teen Night. I also help with many Clover Kid activities. For example, I have helped with two different baking day camps as well as a day camp where kids got to learn about bees. I have also helped with a week long Camp of Discovery for middle schoolers as a camp counselor. I also help decorate and maintain Badger Park in Whiting, as well as run a food drive every fall with my club. I also help plan and participate in Santa Breakfast. We have also made Valentines to send oversees to military, door decorations for the local nursing home, and gifts for our local teachers.
In my church, I have had multiple opportunities to volunteer. I frequently sing and play music in church, as well as lead children's messages. I have also led worship services by helping plan and perform them. I have also helped with Vacation Bible School and my church's after school program.
I have also volunteered at Pleasant View, the local nursing home. Here, I have done activities with the residents such as bingo and making crafts.
I also helped raise money for Then Feed Just One, an organization focused on feeding malnourished families in Honduras. I also got the opportunity to help pack the meals at my school.
I have also helped with Angel Tree, a program the helps purchase Christmas gifts for underprivileged kids.
