I am a driven and hard-working student who enjoys surrounding myself with other like-minded people. I value my family as well as my relationship with God, and I am always looking for ways to be involved with both. I love being able to act as a mentor for younger generations as I feel they are our world's future decision-makers and it is important to instill Christ-like values in them. I am loyal as well as committed to everything I involve myself in because I know that I should be doing all things for God's glory.
Tutored one 2nd grader and one 7th grader in Math, Reading, and Spanish for both semesters of my Sophomore year. I also tutor students throughout the year during my free periods in various courses such as English and Science
I participated in cheer for 7 years and was chosen as captain for my Junior and Senior season. I led my school competition team to first place in our varsity divison for the first time in 15 years.
I volunteer to babysit families from my church and my school. I usually watch around 1-3 children per family and spend time reading books, playing games, and helping them with their homework. I make sure to leave the house just as organized as I found it and always respect the families time, rules, and other habits. I normally stay with the kids past their bedtime so I will bath and dress them as well help brush their hair, teeth, and get into bed. Most of the families I baby sat for were also Christian, so I would read the Bible or a devotional with them and pray before bed.
At Yale University, I learned various courses about law and business while staying in the dorms and also participated in a mock trial as the closing attorney. My team won 1st place against 5 other teams and I was awarded best attorney overall for our trial on a murder case. We were also taught about how to be a great leader and what kind of leader we are or want to be, and learned what staying on a college campus and working collaboratively with my roommates was like.
Worked with the youth ministry director to organize and prepare classrooms for Sunday school as well as update lesson plans. I also worked as a teacher in the classrooms on Sundays with classes of about 12-20 students each week. I also was able to sit in on the church team meetings and help make decisions on future elementary, middle, and high school church events.
Selected by administration from my school to represent a Senator from North Carolina at Harvard Model Congress. I passed several bills and also spoke on various world issues and political decisions. I also learned about different government systems and the roles of leaders in each branch.
