Starting in the service industry of food and alcohol sales in many different settings, I had a head start on developing the customer service and communication skills that have played heavily into my success in the healthcare field. I have worked both on the clinical and administrative side of hospice care and have found a passion in assisting patients.
I am currently studying for my MCAT, in the hopes to attend Medical School within the next few years. I have an Bachelor's of Science in Biological Laboratory Science, which has given me the academic edge within my work as a Hospice Aide and as a Hospice Volunteer Coordinator. I have learned both the clinical components that go into palliative and end of life care, as well as worked in the administrative side with documentation and Medicare compliance.
In my recent work, I am responsible for building and maintaining an entire discipline within a hospice interdisciplinary team, and have managed to take the company from having only a few volunteers and being continually short of Medicare compliance for volunteer hours when I began, to now meeting volunteer hour requirements without fail for multiple consecutive months and generating a volunteer team of 20+ in my short time with the company. I have a true passion for patient care and a hunger to continue to learn by pursuing my education to become a practicing physician in the future.
I played on Davenport University's Women's Soccer team for 4 years. This has taught me an immense amount of self accountability, discipline, dedication, time management, and the ability to work within a team both in success and failure.
