I first started at Streetside Market in October of 2021 as a hostess. As a hostess I:

  • Talked to customers and guided them to their table, as well as making sure they were comfortable.
  • Bussed and reset tables to keep dining room and work areas clean.
  • Explained menu items and suggested appropriate options for food allergy concerns.
  • Sustained calm and congenial manners during communications with angry guests, directing disgruntled clients to appropriate managers.
  • Cultivated warm relationships with regular customers.

I hosted for about a year before they moved me up to barista/to-go area. In that area, I talked to customers on the phone, as well as talking face to face. In that position, I learned how to talk to people. I learned many things, such as communicating with customers very well via phone.

Once I turned 18, I was moved up to waitressing, which has been a very good experience. Waitressing has taught me so many valuable lessons that I can use even in daily activities. I enjoy my job very much.
