Experienced lifeguard with skills in observing risky water spots to ensure the safety of pool patrons, upholding safety protocols, and preventing and resolving any critical incidents that might occur while patrons partake in leisure activities in the pool. Lifeguard is knowledgeable in CPR, basic first aid, and AED. An adaptive individual commended on her ability to manage and make use of her team of lifeguards, as well as the students she instructs.
My job as a lifeguard was to oversee the general safety of all patrons, including enforcing pool rules to ensure a safe environment, taking preventative action to stave off incidents or injuries, and responding swiftly to emergencies, administering first aid when necessary. My responsibilities also consisted of habitually maintaining the health of the pool environment, such as conducting water quality tests, cleaning the filters, and conducting swim tests for those under fourteen to ascertain that there would be no occasion for drowning in the diving pool.
My job as a swim instructor was to instruct children ages five to thirteen on the basics and techniques of swimming, using both a predetermined lesson plan provided by the YMCA and my own experiences learning the skill, as well as observations from more experienced instructors. In my classes, I led water safety workshops and taught fundamental swimming competency, such as how to float, how to tread water, and how to perform freestyle. For my more advanced students, I provided them with drills in order to refine their rudimentary technique, but for all my classes, I made sure to supply individualized feedback to improve performance and confidence.
I enjoy writing stories and have been doing so for twelve years. I hope to have my work published one day. I also partake in walking, hiking, and kayaking.
Many of my works have been featured in my school's Literary Magazines, which are highly selective in terms of publishing short stories, as they don't have the space to publish all but the most popular ones. I also worked my way up to the position of Head Lifeguard at the YMCA, with my boss commenting on my growth from the quiet, shy girl I was when I started to someone confident and commanding.
