Aspiring to be an elementary school teacher with a passion for nurturing young minds and fostering a supportive learning environment. Uses strong time-management and teamwork skills to design engaging, inclusive educational experiences. Committed to developing critical thinking and adaptability in students while employing creative problem-solving techniques to enhance classroom dynamics.
During the first eight weeks of my placement, I completed my general education portion in a first-grade classroom at Newtown Elementary. I observed and implemented strong classroom management strategies, planned and delivered grade-level lessons, and progressively took full responsibility for daily instruction and routines. This experience strengthened my ability to differentiate instruction, maintain a positive learning environment, and engage young learners through developmentally appropriate activities.
In the second eight-week placement, I worked with the district’s special education teacher in a kindergarten setting. The classroom included nine identified students with a broad range of needs within a 24-student classroom, which required flexible behavior management, individualized supports, and close collaboration with the special education team. Navigating varied behaviors and accommodations was challenging but highly instructive; I gained practical skills in behavior strategies, IEP-informed lesson adaptations, and inclusive practices that support both small- and large-scale needs.
I completed my pre-student teaching experience at Newtown Elementary, where I had the opportunity to assist and learn from a dedicated 4th-grade teacher. During this time, I engaged in various classroom activities, supported lesson planning, and observed the implementation of instructional strategies. This hands-on experience allowed me to gain valuable insights into effective teaching practices and classroom management, while also fostering my ability to connect with students and support their learning needs.
I supported the teachers of the Hospital School Program (HSP) by providing bedside instruction to patients. I worked with both special education and general education students during their treatment sessions. During my time in the program, I adapted lessons to meet the diverse needs of each student, ensuring that they received meaningful educational experiences, despite their medical circumstances.
I completed my first Teacher Apprenticeship Program (TAP) during my initial semester at Highland Elementary, where I had the rewarding opportunity to assist and learn from a dedicated 3rd-grade teacher. Throughout this apprenticeship, I was actively involved in a variety of classroom activities, including lesson planning, instructional delivery, and student assessment. I observed how the teacher engaged students with diverse learning styles and adapted lessons to meet their individual needs.
I completed my second Teachers' Apprenticeship Program (TAP) during my first semester at Highland Elementary, where I had the invaluable opportunity to assist and learn from a skilled second-grade teacher. Throughout this experience, I actively participated in daily classroom activities, including lesson preparation, student assessments, and small group instruction. I observed various teaching methodologies and classroom management techniques, which deepened my understanding of how young learners engage with content. Working closely with the teacher, I gained practical insights into creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment that fosters student growth and development. This experience not only enhanced my teaching skills but also reinforced my passion for education.
