Controls Engineer – Gas Engines and Aftertreatment System

Caterpillar Inc.
06.2024 - Current
  • Analyze CRMs and develop or modify controls logic for the Diesel Engine Aftertreatment System.
  • Execute DEF (Diesel Emission Fluid) quality simulation.
  • Performance and data analysis for 'Ramp mode cycle' (RMC) and 'Not to Exceed' (NTW cycle), and create a report for emissions numbers to certify the engine's compliance with development and regulatory goals.
  • Compare the lab data and simulation data to run test points to ensure that the NOx level meets the emission regulations. (i.e. EU-V, Tier 4F, IMO 3, and test cycle standards ISO 8178.
  • Work on AECD (Auxiliary Emission Control Device) by going through software models, controls strategy, and calibrations to verify that DTC, SPN, and FMIs are triggered accordingly, and the effect of those on overall aftertreatment system performance.

Embedded Mechanical Engineer

Kasmo Inc.
02.2022 - 05.2024
  • Client and Project : Caterpillar Inc
  • ( Battery Management System(BMS))
  • Analyze the requirement and co-ordination with the R&D Team, Product Engineers for clarifications on the requirements to be designed and update the requirements
  • Responsible for evaluating and designing the existing control logics with necessary modifications for testing BMS software and Hardware
  • Create/editing MATLAB models for the control logic to test BMS system integrity and robustness for electric machines
  • Develop the detailed design, algorithm, and external interfaces for the HIL system of the electric machines
  • Test real-time embedded control system with HIL platform Simulation for Battery cells; SOC, heater contactor, Cell Balancing, current, temperature and voltage limits test
  • Support Lithium-Ion, LFP,NMC battery cells system testing, checking data quality, test result integrity and repeatability
  • Creating and modifying existing test plans, test procedures for BMS validation and verification
  • Collecting and analyzing test data to increase efficiency and safety measures of full electric vehicles
  • Supporting onsite testing for different battery pack configuration and machines
  • Integrate the designed models and testing of the ECU on the embedded platform
