Responsibilities

• The Program Director will have oversight of the academic, administrative, and logistical operations of the PROMYS Pathways program's comprehensive initiative to provide low-income and underrepresented pre-college students in the greater Boston area with deep mathematical experiences
• The goal is to develop PROMYS Pathways into a successful stand-alone outreach program, by making connections with teachers and administrators in high-needs public schools and serving an increasing number of students each year
• Develop networks with key stakeholders
• Initiate contact with local middle and high school teachers, math coaches, and math department heads to identify and recruit potential math circle mentors
• Make connections with school superintendents and/or other administrators to get support for PROMYS Pathways activities at the district level
• Provide teacher training & curriculum development
• Plan and facilitate training sessions, aligned with PROMYS organizational goals and unique pedagogical approaches, for teachers running math circles at their schools
• Design and provide curriculum materials and ongoing support for teachers throughout the academic year
• Monitor frequency of math circle meetings in order to compensate teachers and compile attendance and demographic information regarding students
• Foster a community of math circle teachers through in-person and/or online forums for information sharing
• Oversee PMC Summer Program
• With PMC Summer Program Director, plan summer schedule and hire counselors
• With Pathways math circle mentors, recruit students and ensure enrollment numbers
• Design application and financial aid forms, exit surveys, and other materials
• Manage logistics: room reservations, supplies, transportation, and meals
• Write and submit grant proposals and reports

Liaise with funders and PROMYS trustees

• Create data and communication infrastructure
• Develop and maintain a Pathways website
• Develop and maintain a database of PMC/Pathways participants, alumni, teachers, and schools
• Create communication tools, such as blogs and/or social media posts, to foster community and inform about Pathways happenings
• Collaborate with other STEM summer programs
• Network with similarly aligned programs to share best practices, while learning about opportunities available to students
• Identify programs to which Pathways students can apply and provide support as they navigate the application process
• Interact with other PROMYS directors, forging a collaborative partnership across the PROMYS family or programs

• Provided meaningful math instruction to improve math skills of children.
• Assessed student comprehension through regular quizzes, tests, and assignments.
• Kept classroom environments consistent and focused on learning by establishing and enforcing clear objectives.
• Diversified teaching techniques and learning tools help students with differing ability levels and varied learning modalities.
• Implemented peer tutoring system to enhance comprehensive understanding of math techniques and increase student test scores.
