Responsibilities

  • The Program Director will have oversight of the academic, administrative, and logistical operations of the PROMYS Pathways program's comprehensive initiative to provide low-income and underrepresented pre-college students in the greater Boston area with deep mathematical experiences
  • The goal is to develop PROMYS Pathways into a successful stand-alone outreach program, by making connections with teachers and administrators in high-needs public schools and serving an increasing number of students each year
  • Develop networks with key stakeholders
  • Initiate contact with local middle and high school teachers, math coaches, and math department heads to identify and recruit potential math circle mentors
  • Make connections with school superintendents and/or other administrators to get support for PROMYS Pathways activities at the district level
  • Provide teacher training & curriculum development
  • Plan and facilitate training sessions, aligned with PROMYS organizational goals and unique pedagogical approaches, for teachers running math circles at their schools
  • Design and provide curriculum materials and ongoing support for teachers throughout the academic year
  • Monitor frequency of math circle meetings in order to compensate teachers and compile attendance and demographic information regarding students
  • Foster a community of math circle teachers through in-person and/or online forums for information sharing
  • Oversee PMC Summer Program
  • With PMC Summer Program Director, plan summer schedule and hire counselors
  • With Pathways math circle mentors, recruit students and ensure enrollment numbers
  • Design application and financial aid forms, exit surveys, and other materials
  • Manage logistics: room reservations, supplies, transportation, and meals
  • Write and submit grant proposals and reports
