Summary

Engaging and exciting color commentator on professionally built online broadcasts with Varsity Sports Live, aimed at delivering live viewers a clear and entertaining experience on game day. I also have lots of experience with more stadium-style PA commentary, with years of being the live announcer and voice of Blue Springs BMX in front of large crowds on a consistent basis. I have years of customer service experience as well, and am very comfortable with helping to present a warm and welcoming environment for others.

Work History

Color Commentator / Camera Operator

Varsity Sports Live - Eudora, KS.
08.2024 - Current
  • I provide color commentary and analysis of various varsity-level sporting events for Eudora High School, while being broadcast to a live audience on a professional YouTube broadcast.
  • Responsible for doing my own research and building detailed notes for each individual team at any given event, in order to enrich the broadcast with relevant and interesting information.
  • Responsible for all camera operations during the broadcast, for roughly three hours. I am typically operating a compact video camera attached to a tripod while actively adding color commentary and analysis throughout the event. All duties of running the live feed/commercials/cutaways falls to my partner while doing the play-by-play.
  • Responsible for communication with each school’s athletic director/sporting authority at the event to establish both our broadcasting setup and building a professional connection with the schools and fellow broadcasters we work closely with.

Server Assistant

Hereford House

  • Assisted servers in delivering food and beverages to optimize dining experience.
  • Maintained cleanliness and organization of dining area to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Supported inventory management by restocking supplies and monitoring stock levels.
  • Collaborated with kitchen staff to ensure timely food preparation and service efficiency.

  • Bussed tables between courses and load and unloaded trays to expedite tasks.
  • Maintained a clean and organized dining area by routinely sweeping floors, wiping surfaces, and removing trash.
  • Kept close eye on customers to quickly spot leaving guests and clear tables for future patrons.
  • Enhanced customer dining experience by promptly clearing tables and efficiently resetting them for new guests.

Play-by-Play Announcer

Blue Springs BMX (volunteer)
10.2023 - Current
  • I deliver live commentary of BMX racing events over the facility’s PA system, so that all bystanders and spectators clearly understand all of the necessary information about the races currently taking place on the track.
  • Close collaboration with the Track Operator or Director at each track to ensure my knowledge of the facility and their events is adequate. This also allows me to help to push future events/promotions/activities at the track to encourage engagement from the present riders and families.
  • As a racer of over a decade myself and as a longtime volunteer at my local track, I have a significant understanding of the nuances of the sport, allowing my commentary to be more relevant and engaging to spectators. I take pride in being educational to newer fans of the sport, along with providing entertaining live commentary.
  • In a sport as fast-paced as BMX racing, I am keeping my head on a swivel mid race to ensure I help to both provide accurate and timely commentary, while keeping the event running as smoothly as possible. I have a radio fed up to my ear at all times, so that any announcements for something outside of the current race (a rider late for their race, a concession stands promotion, live-feed promotion, etc) can be delivered to the crowd in between racing announcements. I am the solo voice to the crowd during racing, so my duties far exceed ‘just’ what is happening on the track.
  • I usually position myself somewhere out alongside the track near the finish line, so that I have a quality vantage point of the race while also being located close enough to the scorekeepers that I can ensure the results to each race are accurate.
  • I also pride myself on being fast-paced yet clear with my commentary, so that I am on time with each race while the spectators are able to clearly understand the announcements being made.
  • I have announced at a variety of different events and facilities, including the USA BMX Grand Nationals in 2024, Spokes BMX’s state qualifier in 2024 and 2025, St. Peter’s BMX’s state qualifier in 2024, Raytown BMX’s Gold Cup Qualifier in 2024, Blue Springs BMX’s 2024 Gold Cup Qualifier and 2025 State Qualifier, and many of Blue Springs BMX’s weekly Friday night and Sunday afternoon races going back to fall of 2023.
  • This job is a purely volunteering pursuit, I simply love the sport and my ‘BMX Family’. This gives me the best seat in the house for racing, while allowing me to socialize with my acquaintances, give back to the local BMX community, and build my announcing abilities.
