I was chosen to join Kadlec's medical assistant apprentice program in July on 2022. During this 2,000 hour on the job training I worked along side a certified medical assistant and learned skills on patient care. I also attended school for one year and went to clinic lab days throughout the course. During my apprentice I grew to learn medications and how they help, diseases and there effects, lab work and there result meanings, how to draw blood and inject vaccines, monitor care gaps for patients, blood pressures and much more. I took a year with the program to follow, learn and develop skills I need to be an excellent medical assistant. I recently took the CCMA exam and passed so I am ready to apply my skills and work as a full time MA.
While working at Trios Health I was able to work in many different patient care positions. I started off working on the grill for customers/patient families, stocking and freight, dishwasher, tray runner which includes delivering food to patient rooms and finally becoming a room service coordinator. As the RSC I was in charge of the shift and oversaw food being prepped/made, delivered to patients, stocked and cleaned, handle money, scheduling and closed shifts. Working at Trios with patients taught me a lot about diet restrictions based on diagnosis's patients had. I was in charge of monitoring food intake for each patient and how it would effect their health. I gained knowledge in patient care, different diagnosis and diseases. This position helped me realize I was interested in furthering my healthcare knowledge and patient care experience.
I was hired to work for Kadlec as a Front Office Assistant and gained knowledge in many patient care areas. I was a scheduler for patient appointments on chronic diseases, wellness exams and acute illnesses. I was able to learn about different insurances and coverages for patient needs. I also worked on the phone and was able to speak to patients daily about medication refills, upcoming labs that were needed, gather information on triage calls and forward information to nurse's/provider teams and referral gathering. These skills helped me with patient interaction.
While being employed at DQ Grill & Chill I worked my way up from team member to shift leader/store closer. My job duties included customer service, stocking/cleaning, putting away freight, making blizzards and food, making cakes, managing crew members, counting money, scheduling and all closing duties. I was able to learn many skills for future jobs while working here.
While being a seasonal employee with Amazon Call Center I was working with Kindle Support. I took daily phone calls and helped customers troubleshoot any issues they may have had with their Kindle. I was able to learn useful customer service skills while in this position.
