PAES Lab stands for Practical Assessment Exploration System Lab. It is a simulated work assessment and hands-on curriculum lab where students learn by structured environment. This is a special education curriculum that is heavily supported by vocational rehab in Nevada.

In April of 2025 I became a train the trainer of Handle with Care. This is a program used to treat someone with caution building relationships with students however it prepares individuals to appropriately handle students should they become violent.

In November of 2023, I wrote a grant and obtained 80,000+ for the PAES lab scan. This is an add on to the PAES lab that I obtained for the entire district.

In addition for this position I have:

• Investigated, compiled and modeled information for state expansion of the Lyon Co PAES lab.
• Developed and implemented plans and protocols for ongoing data collection and student tracking of progress.
• Developed relationships and communicated with 9 different labs within the county to explain how the lab works, present how to run the lab and discuss curriculum status.
• Built and strengthened field partnerships to advance the growth of the labs.
• Evaluated team member work for quality and compliance with PAES lab procedures.

I taught all subjects for 5th grade at Sister Lakes Elementary.

During my time there:

• Met with parents to review Individualized Education Plans for at-risk students.
• Established open communication and positive relationships with students, parents, peers, and administrative staff.
• Provided warm, supportive environment for developing academic, social, and emotional growth.
• Taught core subjects of math, science, technology, and history.
• Prepared and administered grade-specific tests and examinations regulated by school district to monitor students' growth and to report progress to parents.
• Maintained knowledge of school curricula, standards and policies to correctly prepare students for higher grade levels.
• Designed and presented lesson plans in one or more academic subjects using variety of teaching techniques to appeal to various learning styles within assigned grade level.

I taught English as a Second Language for grades K-12 during my years at Lyon County. The most recent being high school level.

I was head interventionist at Fernley High School from 2017-2020.

Testing specialist for ESL 2005-2021.

I have been on numerous curriculum adoption committees throughout my career.

Focus as an ESL educator remained:

• Gave one-on-one attention to each student while maintaining overall focus on entire group.
• Educated students in basics of English grammar and conversational speaking.
• Attended workshops to learn about student motivation and engaging learning activities.
• Developed activities and integrated technology to diversify instruction.
• Developed and taught ESL curriculum to improve students' conversational abilities.
• Set assessments to measure student progress and identify growth opportunities.
• Facilitated small group and individual instruction to maximize student learning.
