As a Trauma nurse I primarily took care of critical patients that had multiple complex injuries. Working in this environment has helped me gain exceptional assessment skills as it is imperative to recognize even slight changes in the patient's status due to the severity of the patients. After six months of working in this department I took on the responsibilities of charge nurse. As charge nurse I provided leadership and supervision aside my team members. I am willing to go above and beyond for not only my patients but also my coworkers. I plan to use the skills I have gained in this position to better serve my patients in the future.
As an Emergency Room Nurse working in a busy level one trauma center I was responsible for assessing patient's status and notifying Physicians of any clinical changes. Working in this type of emergent environment has taught me to be proactive in the constant collaboration with physicians and other health care staff. I have found that effective teaching and communication is the key in ensuring the highest quality of care to not only my patients but to their family members as well.
