Work History

Swim Lesson Coordinator

Acac Fitness & Wellness Centers
08.2024 - Current
  • Organized special water safety workshops to promote the benefits of swimming in the community.
  • Managed communication with parents, addressing concerns and sharing updates on their child''s progress.
  • Increased enrollment in swim lesson program by developing targeted marketing materials and community outreach initiatives.
  • Managed budgetary resources effectively in order to provide necessary equipment upgrades or maintain staffing levels without sacrificing program quality.
  • Hired and trained swim lesson instructors to improve the quality of lessons and created a supportive atmosphere that they are proud to be a part of.
  • In just 7 months I took a struggling almost non-existent program and made it success. Overall camp lesson ratings went from a 2.2 to a 9.2 and group lessons went from a 2.0 to a 9.7 overall rating.
  • I engage with the families an listen to their needs and ask them what they desire in swim lessons and create it for them, making them feel validated and comfortable enough to come to me, knowing whatever they need, I can provide the assistance and follow through to give them the results, they desire.

Early childhood swim camp manager

Camp at the J (JCC)
06.2018 - 08.2021
  • I led the early childhood camp at the J for two summers. 2018 and 2021. This was one of the most wonderful experiences of my life. I encouraged and trained these teens for success. They left the summer, inspired confident lifeguards and swim instructors. I had led summer camps before and always had a good time. I was used to well trained and ready team members. More professional environment. This camp was challenging and I accepted it and made it fun. I created some lessons plans and made a list of equipment needed to run the safest and most productive swim camp. I also made sure we recognized and honored a guard of the week by providing them with a special colored classic lifeguard tube to carry and then pass on to the next. These young kids choose to spent their summers teaching small children for very little money. They worked hard and gave it their best. It was wonderful to encourage them and help them see how spectacular they are and help maintain over all morale! I still hear from my former lifeguard members and the Director of the Early Childhood School, in regards to referrals and references. I hold this experience very close to my heart.

Private Swim Instructor and American Red Cross Instructor

American Family Fitness
06.2016 - 03.2021
  • I was a private swim lesson instructor, ages 6 months and up. My main focus was water safety and Learn to Swim. I have experience with swim team, stroke refinement and some diving. However, most of my time has been spent with beginners, focusing on swim safety and building a skill set within their comfort zone. This would give my students the ability to exceed their personal expectations. Life long skills to build on making them excellent swimmers with the ability to recover from sudden changes that may put them at risk. My experience with intermediate swimmers that would like to advance, work on refinement, skills and drills is best described as a relationship. I need to understand my students personalities and abilities to help them be their best. I have more than 15 years experience teaching swim lessons and I love it with all my heart. I hold current certifications with American Red Cross for LGI, WSI, WSIT. I also have a current Certified Pool Operator certification, as well.

Pool Manager and American Red Cross Instructor

Patrick Henry YMCA
11.2016 - 10.2019
  • I handled the pool operations, chemicals balancing water and pump room. I led and taught all the American Red Cross courses taught at this facility. I led the monthly in service training to keep our Aquatics staff up current in skills, drills and safety. I was head guard and lead Swim instructor for our group and private lessons. I led the swim summer camp sessions. This was a fantastic experience. Helping children learn how to swim is very rewarding. I really enjoyed working with the YMCA summer programs and summer camp. It was an honor to implement the Learn to Swim program for our local grade school children. This ran weekly during the spring months, to prepare children for summer swim. In some cases, this may have been their only time to be in an indoor pool. Living in a community where there is an abundant amount of open water. Our facility found it necessary to prepare these children for unexpected outdoor aquatic environmental hazards. Preparedness saves lives.

Swim School Coach

SwimMAC Carolina
01.2013 - 05.2015
  • I coached the preschool and grade school swim lessons for the Charlotte Latin students. I also instructed the homeschool students. The classes ran back to back throughout the day, 5 days a week. I also had the opportunity to work one on one with special needs students in the endless pool swim spa. SwimMac Carolina is one of the best programs that I have had the privilege to work with. I received a lot of guidance and encouragement from their staff. In turn, I was able to give the same to my students to help them excel beyond their own expectations, giving them a positive learning experience.

Assistant Swim Coach

Parkwood Senior High School
10.2010 - 02.2014
  • Our local High School didn’t have a swim coach. I was asked to assist our baseball coach. I gladly accepted the roll. I planned and led all of the land, water workout’s and beginner swim lessons. After 4 years our team had grown from 9 to 21 students. Most of them had never been in an in ground pool. This is what solidified my life long dream of getting more involved in every aspect of aquatics.
