- Assign each mechanic to a pump repair job that suits their level of expertise.
- Delegate work orders to mechanics as well as machinists.
- Working with repair coordinators and the shop supervisor on incoming raw materials, machined parts, bolting, etc. Making sure the mechanics and machinists have the proper components to complete the repairs in a timely manner.
- Disassemble, clean, and inspect all vertical, vertical inline, overhung, sump, split case (single and multistage), and diffuser (barrel/jet) pumps.
- Fill out and overlook all disassembled documentation. Including mechanic repair work scope notes.
- Gather all new and repaired parts for inspection, and document all dimensions in As-Built forms.
- Balance impellers (rotor assemblies), hydro test (cases, discharge heads, etc.), air test (case/mech seals), straighten shafts if needed, clean and deburr machined cases, rotor alignment to mechanical seal face and bores.
- Verify that all work orders and documentation are complete prior to pump assembly.
- Final inspection of the pump prior to shipment to ensure all components are properly installed, all fasteners are marked with torque check, and all of the tags are accounted for.
- Get with shipping to make sure the pump is properly cribbed and strapped down in supported locations. Take final shipping photos of the pump on the truck, strapped, and ready to go.

- Apply repair tags, direction arrows, and torque checks to all fasteners. Support shafting, and wrap all openings.
- Have the leadman/shop supervisor do the final check. Once all is good to go, help the shipper load the pump onto the truck, and take final shipping photos.
