Since starting a nursing career in an extended care facility, care has been provided to people of increasingly diverse patient populations, allowed for exposure to an array of disease processes, and has yielded to ever-advancing technologies. Skills that have been acquired with the provision of holistic care and supervising have expanded to a progressive, yet less invasive procedural unit that utilizes clinical reasoning and critical thinking. From working in this procedural area and seeing advancements in care and treatments, the knowledge gained has led to the realization of the importance of collaboration, networking, and education in the future of nursing. Now, looking forward it is a joy to be able to guide new nurses in their own journey of lifelong learning as each goes on their own path to providing safe, quality patient care.
