Henrique Januario

Civil Engineering student with a focus on structures and construction, experienced in surveying, bridge design, and hands-on competitions. Since 2023, I’ve been involved with ASCE at SIU, participating in team projects and technical events. I also bring work experience in both customer service and administrative roles, and I’m eager to keep learning and contributing to real-world projects.

ASCE Surveying Team – Team Member
Spring 2025 – Present
• Won 1st Place at the ASCE Mid-America Student Symposium Surveying Competition (April 2025).
• Qualified for the ASCE Civil Engineering Student Championships, June 27–29, 2025, in San Luis Obispo, CA.
• Participated in weekly practices and team preparation for the competition.

ASCE Steel Bridge Team – Team Member
Fall 2024 – Present
• Helped plan and build SIU’s bridge for the 2025 student competition.
• Participated in the Aesthetics Competition, where the team earned 3rd Place and passed the Load Test.
• Gained experience in collaborative design and field assembly, with plans to join the full construction crew next year.

ASCE Mystery Design Challenge – 1st & 2nd Year Competition
April 2025
• Team placed 4th overall in this timed design-build event.
• Completed fieldwork and problem-solving tasks under pressure in outdoor conditions.
• Traveled with the SIU team to Nebraska for the ASCE Symposium.

ASCE Student Chapter – Active Member
2023 – Present
• Participating in team projects, meetings, and competitions since 2023.

• Apply and promote water conservation and recycling practices at home and among peers.
• Completed a university-level course in Environmental Science.
• Value sustainable engineering and projects that serve local communities.
