Lots of heavy duty work. Learned quite a bit of welding, I’ve learned a lot on framing and how to build gas stations, I’ve been operating heavy equipment such as forklifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts, gradalls, etc. I’ve been around for a lot of structural work and have learned a whole lot from it.
I worked at the ace hardware warehouse as a high reach forklift specialist. I worked in the full case stock section meaning I would stock all the bins for the riders to come and pick from to complete their orders. This meant I was carrying 1500- 5000 pounds on my forklift almost at all times. It was a big warehouse but small when you incorporate the 100’s of other operators that are on the floor with you aswell. You have to be smart and careful with your load and the other people operating their machinery around you, aswell as quick and efficient due to the incentive system they use. Everything is timed so I was always quick thinking the best options in each situation I was surprised with.
Working at o’Reilly auto parts taught me quite a bit on merchandising and keeping inventory. Being a parts specialist I was required to memorize brands and locations of certain products. I was trained to be quick on the computer in order to help my customers get the parts they needed without having to waste any extra time. Doing so I have a very good memory and am able to comprehend more than one thing at a time which is needed in the sales industry.
I am a certified forklift operator with a high reach forklift certification aswell, I am also trained on the API job site safety course and am certified to be at public gas station job sites.
