  • Controlled machinery to optimize efficiency in coke production operations.
  • I had to operate heavy-duty equipment, such as a Larry Car, which was the equipment that we used to drop the coal into the battery to heat up and turn it into coke.
  • I was a U-tube operator, which consists of a tube that controls where the gas goes when you start to drop the coal.
  • We also dealt with air tools, such as a chipping gun. The chipping gun was used to chisel out the coke buildup in the goosenecks.
