• North Carolina Teacher Voice Network Fellow, Advocated to influencers throughout the state to improve public education through a paid two-year fellowship created by the Hope Street Group (a non-profit funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation). Directed several focus groups to brainstorm improvements. Led meetings with Charlotte school board members, school district leaders, and local and state politicians on current education policy issues.
• National Board Certification in Early Adolescent Language Arts, Earned national recognition as an elite educator. Evaluated based on leadership skills and accomplishments, classroom management, and content knowledge and delivery.
• CMS New Teacher Orientation Facilitator, Worked productively with a team to plan and deliver a two-day seminar to all new Language Arts teachers in the district. Explained state and district expectations while integrating literacy strategies and management tips into the presentation. Led a breakout session on how to effectively advocate for education policy on a local and state level.
