  • I created individualized accommodations for each student to be successful in each subject.
  • Looped with our class to demonstrate students are more successful when they are comfortable with their teacher. In third grade the majority of our class passed their state assessment which proved this was correct.

LESSON PLANNING AND LEADERSHIP

  • I have taught in different settings and under different administrators. I have learned to adapt my lessons accordingly. I have taught different reading and math curriculums and I believe it has made me able to change with the times. I have taught from PreK-3 and Special Education so I am comfortable in all subjects and classrooms.
  • As a teacher I create a nurturing, positive learning environment where each student has a voice and can feel heard. It is so important that each student be taught in a way that reaches them and their specific learning style. As a teacher I pride myself in figuring out how to reach each student. I enjoy breakthroughs with tough students. Everyone wants to do well, some just take some time to get there.
  • I am the PTO Coordinator at Woodridge Elementary School. This has given me a chance to use my leadership skills in a different capacity. I plan and facilitate large events and communicate with parents and teachers. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills. I schedule each event, create flyers and gather volunteers for each event. I plan and lead each monthly meeting.

Managing Behaviors

I was a Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Instructor, which provided me with the training and tools to de-escalate situations as well as train others in our district. I worked in settings where students were emotionally disturbed but also had terrible home lives. Being able to de-escalate and at times use safe holds was crucial for the safety of everyone.

Coaching Experience

I have coached Volleyball as well as youth soccer. These experiences have given me the opportunity to use my leadership and teaching skills as well as communication skills. I coached at Southview High School while I was in college and teaching. I enjoyed getting to work with high schoolers who shared the same passion for volleyball. I have coached soccer for my kids at Cuyahoga Falls Soccer Club.
