Hillary Porter

Correctional Officer
New Richmond

Summary

This resume is an expression of my keen interest in a position within your esteemed organization. Since joining MCF-STW in February 2024, where I completed a six-week academy and was honored to serve as the speaker, I have actively pursued opportunities for professional growth. I embraced the role of Utility Officer over Unit Staff to gain comprehensive experience across all facility operations, allowing me to demonstrate my aptitude for rapid learning, punctuality, teamwork, and leadership.

My commitment to a career in corrections is unwavering, and I envision retiring from this field. While the closure of MCF-STW was unexpected, I am determined to leverage this as a chance for professional advancement rather than a setback. Although I have only been in corrections for a year and a half, I have dedicated myself to becoming a highly capable and independent officer, ready to take initiative and ensure tasks are completed effectively.

I believe the essence of corrections lies not in punishment, but in facilitating rehabilitation. My personal objective is to contribute to the reduction of recidivism by actively supporting and guiding the incarcerated population toward making constructive choices that benefit both themselves and the communities they will rejoin.
