  • I did my senior capstone internship at the Marshall University Herbarium. This is a dry plant collection of about 52,000 specimens, the second largest collection of its kind in the state of West Virginia.
  • Throughout this capstone experience, I learned how to process and digitize information, and work with databases.
  • I fully processed 80+ plant specimens, from mounting to digitizing, transcribing, and filing.
  • This position helped me develop important time-management skills, skills related to curation and archival of museum specimens, working with databases, and overall life-work balance skills as I had to work X hours per week in the Herbarium in addition to my classes and job at the Counseling Center.

PARTICIPATION IN UNIVERSITY ORGANIZATIONS

Vice-President of IAC, Islamic Advocacy Council. January 2024-Dec 2024. The primary purpose of the Islamic Advocacy Council is to allow students at Marshall University to advocate safely and freely for both Islamic and global humanitarian issues, with a commitment to ensure that a voice is present within our individual communities. The Vice President is: Primarily responsible for event planning and University outreach. Represent the Islamic Advocacy Council and provides overall leadership. Assists the President and assumes their duties in their absence. Plants Journal Club at Marshall University- Member. August-December 2024 Meeting once a month to discuss a scientific paper on plant research. The Gamma Beta Phi Society-Member. Fall 2020. GBP society places a major emphasis on community development and philanthropy. Ascenders Climbing Club at Marshall University-Member. February 2023- December 2024.
