Registered Nurse

Lubbock Heart And Surgical Hospital
03.2020 - 07.2020

I was furloughed and only received 10 hours of orientation and was off work for more than one month before being allowed to be sent back to unit to continue orientation with a preceptor nurse. The nurse manager hired that me to workpredominately on cardiac unit but when I returned both cardiac and post op orthopedic surgery unit (which i was not educated on) were combined and I was left to do my best in caring for the ortho post op pt. assigned to me. The nurse manager that hired me quit approx approximately two of weeks into my employment and another nurse manager took over as my manager. I didn't feel she understood the unit I was hired for and didn't understand my need for additional training for post op ortho patients. so I was let go unexpectedly after I arrived for one of my shifts with no reason given. I really liked the facility, the nurses that worked there, and all of the ancillary staff. I would have loved to have received more information on care of the ortho patients so that i could have given them and the cardiac patients there the best and most professional care possible. If I was given the right tools I would gladly like to be employed there again. I know the pandemic was hard on everyone and sometimes difficult decisions were made.
