March 16, 2023 Greg Hopkins Ed.S. Dear Search Team, It is with great interest that I am applying for the Superintendent position with the Crane R-III School District. I am in my 20th year in education and currently employed as the high school principal within the Marionville R-9 School District. My extensive range of educational experiences as a teacher and building-level administrator have effectively prepared me to lead the Crane School District as its Superintendent. Crane offers the feel of a small town supported with community camaraderie, while maintaining a strong commitment to academic excellence. As a resident of a small town, I understand the unique challenges that accompany rural schools and appreciate the morals and values that often prevail in a smaller district. My interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills will be an asset to the district as we continue our academic growth and success. As a hard-working, dedicated person, I am excited about new opportunities. I understand the importance of making data-driven decisions to foster student achievement and meet the district’s goals as outlined by the Board of Education. During my employment with Aurora, Republic, and Marionville, I have gained valuable knowledge and experience with Response to Intervention, PLC programs, and the Kagan Cooperative Learning model. I have served as Marionville’s Title 1 Director and I currently manage a building-level budget which provides me the ability to make sound financial decisions. As is common in smaller districts, I have several unique roles, including one as a School Protection officer and another as an as-needed bus driver. These broad experiences make me uniquely qualified to understand and respond to the far-reaching needs of the students and employees within the Crane School District. I am fully prepared to partner with the Board of Education to help lead the Crane R-III School District, where students come first through quality instruction, character education, and community involvement. I am confident that my experience as a classroom teacher and principal, coupled with the knowledge I have gained at the graduate level, has equipped me to be an outstanding leader in your district.
