  • Company Overview: Texas State Guard
  • As the Mayor Cell Officer in Charge (OIC) for Base Camp Kelly for Operation Lonestar Border Surge (OLS-BS), I was responsible for the management, control, and coordination between the Texas Army National Guard (TXARNG), the Texas State Guard (TXSG), the Texas Military Department (TMD), and the site contractors
  • As the OIC, I oversaw all camp structures totaling over $12 million dollars in value
  • Following a negligent discharge of a personally owned firearm (POF), I developed the training program that the TMD mandated for all TXARNG and TXSG service members assigned to the Joint Operations Area (JOA)
  • As the Point of Contact (POC) for this program, I managed the implementation of the POF program for all service members (SMs) from El Paso to the gulf coast along the Rio Grande River
  • Additionally, I implemented a training program that offered mission-specific and post-mission certification training
  • This training was also delivered across the JOA at little to no cost to the SMs
  • The courses offered, based on attendance, would have cost the SMs over $100 thousand dollars
  • Due to the success of Camp Kelly and the POF program, I was selected for assignment to a Red Team
  • The Red Teams' mission was to develop creative solutions to address the OLS-BS mission of deterring migrants from crossing the Texas/Mexico border outside lawful entry points
  • Our developments were then presented to the commanding general of the TXARNG, Major General Burkett
