DNA Distance Determination by FRET
Participated in an experiment utilizing Förster Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) to measure the relative distances between different DNA molecules.
Responsibilities:
- Developed and implemented experimental protocols to use FRET as a molecular ruler to determine distance changes at the nanometer scale between DNA molecules.
- Conducted extensive theoretical background research on FRET, including the principles of non-radiative energy transfer between donor and acceptor fluorophores.
- Prepared DNA samples labeled with fluorophores and executed fluorescence measurements using a plate reader.
- Analyzed FRET efficiency data to confirm the relative lengths of DNA molecules, ensuring consistency with theoretical predictions.
