I am a dedicated performer, student, writer, and collaborator that is always working to grow to in my field. I thoroughly love to work with others to make music happen however I can. I have worked in as instructor to younger students in the past in other fields, and I have taken on a position of leadership with other talented musicians. I would describe myself as having a playful, patient, and creative disposition. I am passionate about my field and I am very eager to spread music wherever I am able to.
I have set up a band of fellow music students at COS, and I have worked with them to help us grow as performers. I have learned, written, and taught songs to the other band members, which includes writing lead sheets for self-written originals and personally arranged covers. I have written and helped to select songs that will complement the other band members as vocalists or instrumentalists. I have a written schedule of objectives for each practice, and I assign personal homework for the other members to work on before the start of the next practice. I also believe I have helped encourage the branching out of my fellow musicians by giving feedback on them playing instruments outside of their comfort zone. I also try to keep us on a schedule for when performances will be and how much time should be designated to each song.
As a barista, I have had small conversations and interacted with thousands of strangers through the drive-thru window. I learn names, I try to entertain, and I have made acquaintances with customers. I have done this all the while working in a very fast-paced environment, with many customized orders. I have also gone on trips to the store and other locations to restock on supplies when we are out.
SCICON is a camp that middle schoolers go to learn about natural science for a week. As a counselor, I lodged with the students, led them into, and was involved in fun activities, like coming up with a camp called 'Cheer' and playing games. I have younger brothers, so I do really well as an entertainer to younger kids, while still guiding them to be respectful and polite.
I worked with younger kids, lightly instructing and facilitating games to ensure that the kids didn't hurt themselves and had fun. I had to keep a sharp eye on the game as it progressed, and I had to be equipped to handle disruptive adults that threatened to create an unsafe environment for the kids. I also manned the concession stand and helped set up and take down each day. I really enjoyed the community I made there with some of the older teens and adults. I, along with many others there, used to play soccer as kids, and it felt good to work with others to create the space for the children to experience something we loved.
I was an annual guest speaker for my old second grade class, I would teach about dinosaurs and paleontology. I am a dedicated songwriter. I had a art/portrait commission business for a little while.
