As a deckhand/tankerman my job was the maintenance, upkeep and cleaning of the boat
Along with being a deckhand I had minor training in the engine room. I would perform maintenance and repairs on the engines, generators, equipment, etc.
My other responsibilities would be tying off and securing barges as well as loading and unloading tank barges/ building tow
Assisted crew in daily vessel operations and maintenance tasks.
Conducted routine inspections of safety equipment on board.
Handled mooring lines and secured vessels during docking procedures.
Operated deck machinery to aid in loading and unloading cargo.
Collaborated with team members to maintain cleanliness and organization on deck.
Carried out instructions issued by captain regarding docking procedures.
Fastened handling lines and moorings to prevent boats, barges and equipment from drifting away.
Maintained a clean deck area through daily sweeping and scrubbing of surfaces.
Performed vessel maintenance services, including cleaning, painting and basic repairs.

Performed safety checks on all equipment and gear prior to use.
