Passionate educator with a focus on student engagement and behavior management. Experienced in classroom settings and committed to enhancing the learning experience through collaboration and exceptional patience.
Work within a classroom for two years alongside the host (attending) teacher. It entails all of the same duties that the attending teacher has: plan, teach, manage the classroom, go to meetings, etc. all while finishing my masters. It is also a resident teacher's responsibility to work alongside their attending teacher, as well as any other teachers or service providers with whom they may work with. The classroom is shared between the attending teacher, the resident, and any other teachers in the room. This is not only a job, but also a valuable learning experience for the future.
This experience is an alternate placement halfway through the second year of resident teaching. It is designed to have the resident see a new school, a new experience, and a new grade level. The resident teacher assumes a lesser role than in the previous school and is tasked more with learning about different teaching styles, classroom management, school culture, etc.
Working as a weight room manager oversees the weight room and gym. I was tasked with being in there with student-athletes as they work out in the summertime slots. Maintaining a clean weight room/gym as well as assuring the student athletes remain safe in their weight training is also a priority of the job. Working as a custodial sub prioritizes getting the school cleaned during the summer leading up to the new school year. Whether that is cleaning out the rooms/furniture in the rooms, sweeping and cleaning the hallways, painting rooms and/or all and any outside work (mowing, weedwacking, landscaping, etc.)
Working one-on-one with a special needs student. Help this student understand the lesson, be calm in the classroom environment, and be a friend to the student. Furthermore, help the teacher(s) with anything they need in the room.
Work within the school, wherever needed. Try to uphold the standards of the room in the teacher's absence. Also, fulfill the duties and needs outlined in the sub-plans left by the teacher.
