Projects

SafeSurf Darknet 2025 – Darknet Traffic Dataset Creation: Contributed to the development of a comprehensive dataset covering darknet traffic across three layers: identification, type, and behavior. Involved in all project phases including traffic capture and data processing. Tools used included Wireshark, CICFlowMeter, and darknet traffic generation software (TOR, I2P, Zeronet, Freenet, VPN). Supervisor: Dr. Qasem Abu Al-Haija – Assistant Professor, Department of Cyber Security, SafeSurf – Defender Against Darknet Threats: Participated in developing a machine learning-based intrusion prevention system (IPS) designed to detect and block darknet traffic. The system featured a web-based network management interface. Involved in all development phases. Tools used included Flask, Visual Studio Code, and Cursor. This project received high praise from faculty and was awarded an A+. Supervisor: Dr. Qasem Abu Al-Haija – Assistant Professor, Department of Cyber Security

Publications

  • “Darknet Threats and Detection Strategies: a Concise Overview” – Accepted: Co-author of a literature review exploring darknet threats and detection techniques, emphasizing machine learning and intrusion prevention systems (IPS) to enhance cybersecurity resilience. Supervisor: Dr. Qasem Abu Al-Haija – Assistant Professor, Department of Cyber Security
  • “SafeSurf Darknet 2025: A Novel Dataset for Darknet Traffic Detection and Analysis” – In Progress: Contributed to the creation of a labeled darknet traffic dataset covering Tor, I2P, VPN, Zeronet, and Freenet, supporting multi-layer behavior classification and machine learning-based analysis. Supervisor: Dr. Qasem Abu Al-Haija – Assistant Professor, Department of Cyber Security
