Summer Activities

  • Strake Jesuit Summer Business Program Apart of group that followed a local Houston businessman throughout the summer absorbing what they do for a living. Before the summer, we were allowed to choose our top 3 fields of finance in which we wanted too explore further. We were then sorted into groups of 7 to 8 students where we learned more about what it takes to work in the chosen profession.

Accomplishments

  • 10th-11th Dean's List Maintained letter grades A and B at the end of each semester.
  • 10th-11th National Honors Society Awarded to Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors who have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5. Members exemplify leadership, scholarship, service, and character. All members required to complete at least 16 hours of community service.

Community Service

  • 9th-11th Houston Food Bank, Volunteer Assisted underprivileged families in the greater Houston area. Helped package, organize, sanitize, and clean warehouse after shift.
  • 9th-11th Sacred Heart Curch, Alter Server Served as an Alter server most weekends or when assigned.
  • 11th Memorial Dr. Presbyterian Church Food Drive, Volunteer Helped package, organize, and move boxes of nutritious food into cars driving through the facility.

Extracurricular Activities

  • 9th-11th Athletes Taking Action (ATA) A club started to help provide meaningful and exciting experiences for children with intellectual developmental disabilities. These activities can range from yoga, to go-karting, and even the annual talent show hosted on campus.
  • 9th-10th SJSAA Chamber Orchestra, Member Practiced and participated in two concerts per year.
  • 9th-11th Football, Player Practiced every morning and afternoon in-season, and attended meetings outside of school and on weekends.
  • 9th-11th Track&Field, Runner Practiced every afternoon in-season
  • 11th Hispanic American Club, Member Club based on building relationships and connections with the Hispanic american community on campus. Participated in weekly meetings.
  • 10th-11th Business Engineering Club, Member Club founded on the principals of understanding how business affects engineering such as budgets, materials, layouts, etc.
  • 10th-11th Crusader Crew, Member Program assisting incoming freshmen assimilate into the high school environment which continues throughout the academic year. Led a group of 6 freshmen during orientation during the summer, and fostered relationships with them for the duration of the academic year through after-school events and meetings which delves into their experience of high school as the year goes by to check in on their social, academic, and mental well-being.
  • 11th Freshman Retreat, Leader Led a group of 8 freshmen through an itinerary of deep conversations which fostered a safe space to converse issues, ideas to improve student life, and to strengthen a bond within the grade level. Assisted with organizing and running the annual Freshman retreat where the freshmen have a chance to build the foundation of the brotherhood that they will experience during their time at Strake Jesuit.
