I have been a keyholder for the past five years and my responsibilities include opening and closing the store as well as attending weekly meetings if the manager isn't present. I have traveled to other cities to assist in completing inventories, being in charge of specific stores if managers or district managers are unavailable, or to help ship off merchandise from closing stores. As a keyholder I am in charge of making sure the store is ready for all customers to enter as well as making sure part-timers are achieving goals during store hours. During shipment day my responsibilities consist of separating incoming stock by gender and style, putting new merchandise on shelves, and keying in invoices when all wares have been accounted for.
Here are a few more responsibilities that are consistent with my role:
- Temporary manager (when manager is unavailable for extended time)
- Ordering supplies when store is in need of item refresh
- Being able to navigate online programs to help customers order specific accessories or shoes
- Making sure all tills and specific registers are even at opening and at the end of the day
- counting money and taking the daily deposit to the bank every night
