Indigo Pickford

Hello, my name is Indigo Pickford. I am 19 years old, and I was born and raised in Floyd, Virginia. I graduated from Floyd County High School in 2023, and I plan to earn my Business Associates Degree from NRCC.

I enjoy exercise, nutrition, and outdoor activities. I also love to read and write, but I would say my passion is music. I love to sing, have played two instruments, read music, and I participated in my school's marching band and choir. My grandfather Seth Williamson was a classical music reviewer at NPR for many years, and my great grandmother was an opera singer. Music runs in my blood and is very dear to my heart.

I have always been very good with children. I grew up in a community with lots of young kids, so I have been taking care of children to some extent since I was one. I love coming up with creative activities for all ages, and finding ways to fill spare time with enriching entertainment, rather than screen time. I love watching all ages of children, but my favorite age range is probably 4-7. I remember how magical the world was at that age and I love to contribute to that magic. The world felt so wondrous and looking back its definitely an ineffable experience. The closest you can get to that feeling of bliss is hearing a child's laughter or joining them in their imaginary worlds where mermaids swim in the ocean and dragons sleep in caves.

Some things that I will expect in the workplace are: clear communication, feedback, organization, clear boundaries, manners, professionalism, organized work scheduling, necessities provided for children, reimbursement for any activity supplies or places traveled for activities(zoo, library, etc.), and 1099-R forms for any recurring or permanent positions.
