In addition to bench responsibilities, duties are to include but not limited to:

• Mentoring, guiding, and training the staff
• Successful management and scheduling of 6 staff members
• Helping the leadership with projects
• Being the point person for questions and issues between the patient’s care team and the Blood Bank staff
• Active member of Penn Medicine Pathology and Transfusion Medicine Department Employee Development and Engagement Committee (December 2024-May 2025)

• Proficient in performing moderate to high-complexity immunohematology testing and procedures; billing for services, assisting residents and physicians in patient’s diagnosis and treatments,
• Performing/validating equipment and reagent QC at required intervals according to Standard Operating Procedures, recognizing QC failures, taking the appropriate remedial action. Proficient in performing federal required QA surveys. Assumes responsibility and accountability for professional growth. Assisting in training of new personnel and MLS students. Proficient in operating and troubleshooting IRIS and Echo analyzers. Proficient with EPIC and Cerner Millennium LIS.

• Trained in all aspects of the computerized hospital medical laboratory serving approximately three hundred-beds hospitals. Performed testing in all departments in the clinical laboratory and blood bank.
• Major instruments operated include Bact/Alert, Observa, Vitek, Sensititre in microbiology department, IRIS Urine and Body Fluids Chemistry Analyzer, Sysmex 5000 and Sysmex 2000 Hematology Analyzers, STAGO Evolution and STAGO Compact Coagulation Analyzers, and the Dade Behring Bleeding Time Analyzer, Cobas 6000, Cobas 8000, Cobas E 411, Abott Architect, and NOVA Chemistry Analyzers. In Blood Bank extensively trained on ProVue Analyzer.
