BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the supervision of the Superintendent/CEO, School Nurse, and/or designee the Health Clerk performs a variety of moderately difficult clerical tasks, assist in providing health services and emergency first aid to ill and injured students.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist nurse and school sites in assessing nature and degree of student illness or injury and takes appropriate action.
• In the absence of the nurse, administers first aid to ill and injured students, arranges ambulance and/or contacts parents as necessary, following specific guidelines.
• Compiles accident and altercation reports.
• Compiles, inventories and distributes health materials and supplies to school sites Prepares annual accident report survey.
• Acts as liaison between parents and school regarding health and attendance problems.
• Works with nurse and school personnel to process students into Home Hospital.
• As directed by the school nurse, reviews student immunization records and health records and assists families to ensure compliance with immunization laws.
• Assists in maintaining daily logs and medical records.
• Uses various office machines, including computer, to input and maintain current health information for all students.
• Models and supports the key components of Capturing Kids Hearts across all stakeholder groups.
