I was given the opportunity to shadow a pediatric emergency department nurse and nurse manager at the Cardiovascular unit. During my experience I was introduced to the work-life of staff and able to gain understanding of real life case studies ( children's health issues) with nurses. I was also allowed to observe a catheter lab and understand how conditions like Atrial Fibrillation is treated, I was able to ask questions related to cardiovascular health and understand about different procedures including cryoablation are used to treat conditions like A-fib. I was able to develop and format a research paper which consisted of my observations that I witnessed in the catheter lab as well as got the opportunity to further get more understanding of cardiovascular research by interviewing a professor at Sacramento State University who holds a PHD in cardiovascular studies. Overall I was able to establish a well formatted research paper and presented by observations and outcomes to the science teachers at my local highschool.
