I have lived in the Tahoe/Reno area all my life. For twenty years I worked with my father building and maintaining concrete commercial and private pools and spas in the Truckee Tahoe area. Such work included the safe hauling and handling of hazardous materials such as hydrochloric acid and sodium hypochlorite, as well as construction materials and equipment using pickup trucks and trailers. Through the winter months when the family business was slow, I often operated snow removal equipment such as front loaders and large snowblowers for Phil Thompson snow removal, often juggling a third job in various restaurant kitchens over the years. As national economic and housing circumstances shifted, the family business was losing traction, and in the summer of 2019 I worked at a gold mine deep in the Alaskan bush south of the Yukon valley where I operated twenty and thirty ton Caterpillar and Volvo dump trucks, large excavators, and a fuel tanker on site, as well as recognising the need for site cleanup and organisation, inspiring the foreman, crew, and lead mechanic to correct the issues which saved the mine from untold fines, as the site was inspected by MSHA just weeks after the cleanup was completed. After Covid, my father sold the family business and house in Tahoe leaving me with my truck, what I could haul in a trailer, and a bit of money to start over, and after a few summers and winters trying new places out, I landed in Reno in the fall of 2024 with one of my sons who I am currently supporting. I have been driving for Reno Sparks Cab since, with zero accidents or incidents.
I have a good feel for heavy equipment and air brakes, I have a good driving record and enjoy driving and seeing new horizons, I get along well with most anyone, I pick things up quickly and pay attention to details, and I have been told by experienced drivers getting their automatic transmission restriction lifted at the trucking school that I’m the best new driver they’ve seen. The Taxi job is scarcely enough to support my son and I, and I’m excited to start down the path of commercial driving, and I would greatly appreciate your consideration as a candidate to fill a driving position for you.
