Work History

Rod Buster

Iron Workers Local Union 75 - Paradise Rebar Inc.
06.2022 - 07.2022
  • Company Overview: (Local Iron Workers Union 75)
  • My job was to assist rod busters, carrying 10ft – 18ft
  • Rebars across 3 different 100ft bridges, I worked 10 hours that day
  • I applied the night before starting the job, I was terminated for not having the proper union training, when my foreman and I came to an agreement with the Union Hall, stating that I’d have to learn what I can on the structural rod busting job, and to fully commit by working 10 hours with Local 75 Union Ironworkers
  • I was supposed to be sent to the union hall in Phoenix, Az, for training after learning as much as I could as an Apprentice on the local job, and my fees and training would be covered by the company
  • Instead, after work, I got a call and I was told to go to the Union Hall before showing up to work by the safety organization, but I didn’t have the travel expenses to drive over 200+ miles and 4 hours, including not having a place to stay through the apprenticeship program
  • I tried to explain the agreement we had but sadly it didn’t work
  • (Local Iron Workers Union 75)

  • After the 2 weeks passed, I asked for the reevaluation test and they told me the company rules changed & I’d have to wait 30 days again
  • I waited a month and a half but they still refused to give me the test, I may have failed the test but I showed them I could do the work, after not being reevaluated for journeyman pay, I requested for a weld test so I could get welders pay, and they have also refused to give me the test
